Thanksgiving day with a special prayer

Today, Sunday Oct 24, we had our Thanksgiving day.
We were blessed in may respects.
A group what came from down South stayed for the service and blessed us with good songs. We had quite a lot of people joining us for the occasion. But especially and most notably we had several very special people from the communities who really made this Thanksgiving special.

Sister Stella

First of all it was sister Stella from Grand Rapids. She is a very educated sister who worked in Education system and also was once appointed to server as a special Counsellor for Residential School survivors. She was married for a long time to a pastor, German by birth, who till his last days served the Lord in Grand Rapids. She shared some memories we all really enjoyed.

Sisters from the Nelson House

After that, a sister form Nelson house stood up to share her story. It was really a cry from the bottom of her heart. A cry for help for the community which is dying in sins, drugs overdoses and other issues .. she was crying and asking to pray for the community. In addition to all problems Nelson house is closed for us now... and the only church in the community was burned down 2 years ago. We paused our quite joyful till that moment service and decided to take the opportunity to pray for Nelson house.

These two sister did put all the words about giving Thanks into right perspective: we should be thankful for all things. Especially simple but essential things: Salvation, family, good company of believers, place of worship and freedom to gather.

Please pray fro Nelson House, for Grand Rapids and all Communities up North
