It has been a busy weekend for our family.
But we are glad that even this little bit could be done for furthering the Kingdom of Heaven.
On Saturday, our young people, teachers and us adults went to the streets of Thomnpson with Gospel tracts. Alexey and Iryna put a table with tracts and snacks, the rest were divided into groups and went out to the streets. We had some good conversations and prayed for some people. The need is obvious and dire.. It is quite interesting to see how many people would ask to pray for them right on the streets.
This Sunday it so happened that we were part of Lord’s ministry 3 times.
Sunday morning, Alexey preached in our church on a subject: Why do we Christians need the Old Testament? There are two thoughts to keep on mind: (1) The Greatest Teacher, Lord Jesus taught us that all, even the littlest thing, will be fulfilled from the Law (Matt 5.17-18) and (2) Old Testament is given us to learn and get comfort, patience and hope (Rom 15.4).
Then we travelled to Thiket Portage. It was nice to see the old church building renewed and local people with children in attendance. We heard from the Gospel of John 5.2-9 a story about a sick man. In this story we see how people are divided into 2 groups: people who are among the first AND the rest, who are not the first. “The first" people - are happy and lucky in this life. They get the healing, the blessing.. People who are "the second" usually are not very happy. They are sick , discouraged and bitter. They are "the losers". But guess what? Where do we find Lord Jesus? He came to the group that is called "the losers", to the unlucky, the "slow goers ", the sick and sad people. Lord Jesus makes miracles for them. How wonderful is our Lord!
Then we had our regular Slavic Bible Study. We had a “free style” evening of questions and answers. One of the most discussed was: what do we do with hatred and bitterness?
Obviously having Ukranians, Russians and Belarussians in one group it is a question that is on the mind of many. Lord is merciful to us.. We had a good evening of good conversion and insights from God’s word.
